Via Christi Donates $100,000 to Second Light to Support Medical Service Coordination

This afternoon, Second Light and Via Christi leadership announced a $100,000 donation to support medical service coordination on Second Light’s campus.

Untreated health issues are a driving force behind homelessness; Via Christi’s. investment in Second Light is designed to empower strategic opportunities to connect the unhoused to the healthcare they need to move forward with hope, healing, and housing.

“Our support of Second Light is a natural extension of our mission to provide compassionate care for those in our community who are most vulnerable. By expanding access to medical services directly where they are needed most, we are living out our commitment to serve the underserved and promote health equity across Wichita. It is simply the right thing to do, and we are honored to stand alongside Second Light in this vital work,” said Christopher Dodson, Chief Strategy Officer, Via Christi.

Second Light will leverage Via Christi’s donation to ensure the best medical care coordination for guests working towards four key objectives:

• Reducing 911 EMS calls to Second Light
• Providing triage and basic care to Second Light guests
• Ensuring guests are connected to medical benefits
• Establishing a medical home for guests’ long-term care – even after people exit Second Light
